Every model includes a tanning ledge and a wading area built into the distinctive curved kidney shape that has defined backyard pools for generations. The compact St. Lucia (Jamaica 12) fits smaller yards. The Jamaica and Valencia both fill the 14-foot wide size with slightly different feature profiles. The kidney shape is the oldest and most recognized form in residential pool design. The distinctive concave curve on one side creates a natural waist that divides the pool into a larger deep end lobe and a shallower shallow end lobe, giving the pool two visually distinct zones without any hard edges or sharp transitions. That organic flow is why kidney pools have remained a preferred shape for over 70 years. In a landscaped backyard the curves of a kidney pool complement natural plantings and irregular lot shapes in ways that rectangular and freeform pools often do not.
The Jamaica family preserves that classic shape while adding the tanning ledge and wading area that modern buyers expect.
All three Jamaica family models include both a tanning ledge and a wading area molded into the original fiberglass shell. The tanning ledge at 6 to 8 inches of depth sits at the shallow end. The wading area provides a second accessible shallow zone at a depth comfortable for young children who are past the ledge stage but not ready for the full pool. Together the two shallow zones make the Jamaica family one of the most accessible pool families in the Latham catalog for households with children of mixed ages.

The St. Lucia (Jamaica 12) at 12'3" x 23'11" is the compact entry point of the family. At 6,000 gallons it is a proper pool with enough volume for stable chemistry and a comfortable swim. The 12-foot width gives it a smaller lot footprint while still allowing the full kidney shape with both shallow zones present. For yards where a 14-foot wide pool would feel crowded or would not permit the patio surround the homeowner wants, the St. Lucia is the kidney pool to consider. The 5-foot maximum depth is accessible for most swimmers without requiring deep excavation.
The Jamaica and Valencia both fill the 14-foot wide size at the same 14'4" x 27'7" footprint and 10,000 gallons. The Jamaica includes swim-up bench seating alongside the tanning ledge and wading area. The Valencia's feature profile is otherwise consistent with the family. At 14 feet wide and nearly 28 feet long the 14-foot models have the surface area to feel genuinely spacious. The 5'10" maximum depth gives the deep end enough headroom that adults can swim comfortably without touching bottom.
