The kidney shape is the oldest and most recognized form in residential pool design. The distinctive concave curve on one side creates a natural waist that divides the pool into a larger deep end lobe and a shallower shallow end lobe, giving the pool two visually distinct zones without any hard edges or sharp transitions. That organic flow is why kidney pools have remained a preferred shape for over 70 years. In a landscaped backyard the curves of a kidney pool complement natural plantings and irregular lot shapes in ways that rectangular and freeform pools often do not.
The Jamaica family preserves that classic shape while adding the tanning ledge and wading area that modern buyers expect.
All three Jamaica family models include both a tanning ledge and a wading area molded into the original fiberglass shell. The tanning ledge at 6 to 8 inches of depth sits at the shallow end. The wading area provides a second accessible shallow zone comfortable for young children who are past the ledge stage but not ready for the full pool. Together the two shallow zones make the Jamaica family one of the most accessible pool families in the Latham catalog for households with children of mixed ages.

The Jamaica 10 at 9'10" x 19'9" is the smallest model in the family and the most compact kidney-style fiberglass pool in the Latham lineup. At under 10 feet wide and just under 20 feet long it fits yards where a 12-foot or 14-foot pool simply would not work. At 3,750 gallons the chemistry is manageable and the pool maintains heat efficiently. The depth range of 3'2" to 5' keeps it safe and accessible for all ages. For buyers who have had other builders tell them their yard is too small for a kidney pool, the Jamaica 10 is the answer to bring back to that conversation.
The St. Lucia (Jamaica 12) at 12'3" x 23'11" and 6,000 gallons is the mid-range model. The 12-foot width gives it noticeably more surface area than the Jamaica 10, more room to maneuver in the pool, and a more proportioned feel in a medium-sized backyard. The 5-foot maximum depth is accessible without requiring deep excavation.
The Valencia (Jamaica 14) at 14'4" x 27'7" and 10,000 gallons is the full-size model. At 14 feet wide and nearly 28 feet long it has the surface area to feel genuinely spacious. The 5'10" maximum depth gives the deep end enough headroom for a comfortable swim. For households that want the kidney shape at a size that can host a real gathering, the Valencia is the right call.
